
Under the XXIII National and
XIV International version of Andicom 2008, will be discussed the evolution of mobile communications
in Latin America. That is how it will be developed a presentation, Thursday October 30th, on the
subject Mobile Trends in Latin America, headed by Erasmo Rojas, director for Latin America and the
Caribbean of 3G Americas, and the panel How mobile services contribute to the create welfare and
build future in Latin America.
The conference of 3G Americas will present the current state of mobile communications in
Latin America (technologies, markets, and economic indicators):
• Second Generation Mobile networks (2G) and the motivation and need for migration to
networks of Third Generation (3G).
• State migration to 3G in Latin America and the Caribbean.
• Opportunities and challenges for the successful implementation of 3G in the region.
For its part, in the panel will be discussed how the mobile services we know today and will
know tomorrow are contributing to increase the level of service in mobile users and satisfy their
needs for communication and productivity. The panel will submit technologies and services that are
being offered today and which mobile tools are in the hands of both business users and consumers
for their daily work or personal activities. The possibility of accessing broad band in a mobile
environment at any time and place creates new opportunities for development both for suppliers of
equipment, terminals and services to content developers.
The panelists, representing the value chain of mobile services from technology to services
and content, will present their views. Among them are the international operators Ancel (Uruguay)
and ICE (Costa Rica); suppliers Ericsson, RIM (Research in Motion) and Global Net content
developers.
It is good to recall that the XXIII National and XIV International Telecommunications
Congress Andicom 2008, considered the biggest telecommunications event in Spanish language, will
take place in Cartagena de Indias from October 29th to 31st, 2008.
