The city of
Cartagena de Indias welcomes Andicom Congress participants. This historic Colombian Caribbean city
was declared an “Historical, Artistic and Cultural Heritage of Humanity” site by UNESCO in 1985.
With its approximately 950,000 inhabitants and an average year-round temperature of 28°C (82°F),
Cartagena de Indias has recently become a meeting point for renowned national and international
celebrities in the world of politics, culture and business from a variety of economic sectors.
The Cartagena de Indias Convention Center, located on the bay, is one of the best in Latin
America. Each year the center receives thousands of visitors from all over the world and from many
different disciplines. Important events are regularly held there, such as summit meetings of heads
of state, FTAA [Free Trade Area of the Americas] meetings and IDB [Inter-American Development Bank]
Board of Governors meetings, among others.
